FAQ- Everything about Blueroca and Shoe Defence
Blueroca started with one simple gap: we disinfect our hands, but we forget what our shoes bring home.
About Shoe Defence
What exactly is BlueRoca Shoe Defence?
BlueRoca Shoe Defence is a lab-tested shoe disinfectant and deodoriser developed specifically for footwear. It targets odour-causing bacteria while being suitable for common shoe materials when used as directed.
How do I use it?
Hold the bottle 15–20 cm from your shoes. Spray evenly inside or outside until lightly covered. Wait 10 seconds contact time, then wipe or let air-dry. No wiping is required unless you prefer.
How often should I use it?
Think of it like washing your hands — but for your shoes. Use it every time you come home or after gym sessions.
Is it okay to use with kids and pets at home?
Yes. It’s household-grade and non-flammable. Use away from children and pets in a ventilated area. Once fully dry, treated shoes are safe to walk indoors.
Can I use this on all types of shoes?
Yes. Our plant-based formula is safe on finished leather, mesh, suede, and synthetics when used as directed.
Is it tested or certified?
Independently lab tested to EN 1276 and EN 13697 standards for bactericidal performance.
Safety and Other
What does it smell like ?
When you spray, there’s a brief, sharp scent for a few seconds as the disinfecting carriers evaporate quickly. This fast evaporation is what allows the formula to work in short contact time and dry without residue. Once settled, it leaves a light, clean leather note with a subtle hint of pine — no heavy or lingering perfume.
Why not just leave shoes on the rack?
Leaving shoes on a rack helps keep dirt outside, but it doesn’t address bacteria. Shoes collect germs from streets, gyms, and public spaces, which can transfer indoors when handled or walked around. BlueRoca is designed to disinfect shoes before they enter your home.
Where should I store the bottle?
Store it where it’s most convenient to use — typically near the front door or in the car. Keep the bottle upright, below 30°C, and away from direct sunlight.
Is it safe on white shoes?
Yes, when used as directed. The formula is designed to dry clear and leave no visible residue. Avoid over-spraying, and as with any product, test first on delicate or unfinished shoes.
Is it non-flammable?
Yes. BlueRoca Shoe Defence is classified as non-flammable under standard storage and transport conditions when used as directed.
What makes this different from shoe deodorizers?
Most shoe deodorisers rely on fragrance to mask odour. BlueRoca works by disinfecting the bacteria that cause shoe smell, which is why odour doesn’t return as quickly.
Why does it work faster than other sprays?
BlueRoca is tested to recognised EN hygiene standards and designed for short contact time. Under test conditions, it achieves effective bacterial reduction in as little as 10 seconds.
What is the shelf life?
BlueRoca Shoe Defence has an estimated shelf life of up to 24 months when stored below 30°C, away from direct sunlight, with the cap tightly closed.
Can I use it daily?
Yes. It’s designed for regular use, especially if you commute, go to the gym, or spend time in public places. Many customers use it as part of their daily routine when coming home.
